Hi Adrian,

On the last email i sent i said i hoped my run of good fortune would last and that a 30lb common would make it a memorable year. Well its now become a memorable year. Please find pics of common 33lb 2oz and Mirror 25lb 8oz from a three fish catch over the last two nights.

The fish are truly stunning this time of year in there autumn colours.

Maybe i should end by saying a 40 pounder would make it an exceptional year as you never know there is still time to bag one.

Thanks for providing the venue.

Hi Adrian (posted 8th September 2009)

A long time ago ( 4 years) I basically moved in on Little Horseshoe and Bradley's and lived there for 4 months before I went back to the real world and got a job !!

Hope you are all well, I update myself reguarly by visiting your website and must say the results particulalry at Bradley's are very impressive, you always had a vision for Watermark and it's testament to you that all you planned has actually happened.

I have attached some photo's of my captures in Sept and Oct 05 maybe you can put them on your site as reference to how the fish have come on, the hump backed fish on Bradleys'I was pleased to see again it's a very old fish that is still gaining weight !!

I hope one day to come and see you all and fish the lakes of Watermark again, but now living in Hull it's quite a journey.

Regards

Dave with Bradley's 28lb 8oz & Little Horseshoe 32lb 2oz

Please find pics of first thirty from Bradleys. One of two fish i caught this weekend. This one was 36lb and the other was a mirror also of 16lb.

This has made all the nights worth it and follows on from the cat a few weeks ago. Well chuffed lets hope me good luck continues for the rest of the year as i would love one of the big commons to make it a memorable year.

Thanks for supplying the ultimate venue, cant see myself fishing anywhere else.

Cheers,

Hi Adrian its Rach, here are the pics as promised!! - May 2009

first pic (DSC00007) 13lb 2oz
second pic (p160509_05.00) 11lb 0oz

All caught on dt bait company (fresh orange pop-ups) with a small pva bag of 4mm halibut pellet at about 50yards range just on the edge of a weed bed on a gravel spot that sloped off in to clay. I used a basic pop-up rig, long length of leadcore on a inline drop off system. (also had a low double using this technique but couldnt get any photos because camera ran out off battery. )

Also lost 2 other fish in the margin on a gravel spot surrounded by clay again using dynamite baits (meaty marine) boilie topped with a grain of fake corn also with a little pva bag containing 4mm halibut pellets and chopped boilies and then i scattered a dozen baits around the area. i used a basic hair rig with a long hair and a small piece silicone tubing on the hook again with a long length of leadcore and inline drop off system. all these fish were caught and lost between 3.00 am and 10.00 am. sat 16th.

rig contents.

Spring Update April 2009

Bradley's has woken up and fishing well with Carp to 36lbs captured. Catches of stock fish to 18lb are commonplace with syndicate member Bob catching 6 fish to 18lbs in one night. Simon Crow had 4 fish whilst doing a feature for Carp World and Roly from the Tackle Den has been hauling in the Tench.

Note from Colin Pritchard January 2009

Just a short note to say that I fished Bradley’s for 24 hrs on the 30/31 Dec 08 and how bitterly cold is was. But it was still , in my eyes a successful trip as I caught 2 “stockies” at 13lb and 16lb between 0200 and 0300 on the morning of the 31st, my rods, reels and alarms were all thickly coated in frost but what better way the shake of the festivities than diving out of a lovely warm sleeping bag wearing your underwear at 2 in the morning when the temperature is -5 and falling, well can’t wait for my next trip only hoping for a bit warmer weather, happy new year.

Update December 2008

Bradley's still fishing very well for the anglers braving the cold weather - will post the results as the photos come through.

Access to Bradley's remains open whilst the restoration continues. I will advise via this forum if access is closed for any reason.

Update 07 October 2008

This last weekend saw anglers catching fish to over 30lbs with Andrew Nichols catching a 31lb 8oz mirror and other anglers catching plenty of stock fish to 24lb 6oz Bradley's is providing good sport.

Update 02 October 2008

Jo Morgan and Rob Hughes have been underwater filming on Bradley's today for the latest instalment of underwater rig analysis in Carpology. Jo managed to winkle out a nice 15lb mirror between filming. The fish are feeding on small zebra mussels in the weed with some great shots of this to come from Rob - watch this space...

P.S. Seb Francis had another three fish last night as well as several dropping off.... He upped the catch rate by fishing to a silt patch in prefrence to gravel.

Update 01 October 2008

Last weekend saw anglers catching up-to 15 fish each with Paul Kelly catching one of the first stock fish over 20lb along with another mirror of 25lb.. Again fish are favouring the north bank around Wood Pool. Follow the wind and fish in the undertow where the water is discoloured. These fish love the margins Seb Francis caught a 15lb stock fish last night under the rod tips along with a PB 8lb tench. Boilies and bags of pellet are still working well as are fake maize/corn.

When you see the work Rob Hugh's does with underwater photography as featured in Carpology magazine you will realize how visible your rigs are in clear-water gravel pits. It is no coincidence that many of the big fish and multiple catches are being caught by experienced anglers so take the time to read Rob Hughes latest articles in Carpology and refine your tactics as believe me if I can catch 9 fish on my first session at Bradley's then anyone can!

Bradley's Update 10 September 2008

This is a favourite time of year for catching those big Commons that Bradley's is renowned for. Ken Bull has caught a 30lb Common in the last week on Atlantic Heat as part of a four fish catch including a cracking 21 lb mirror.

Bradley's has picked up after a slow August with fish favouring the North bank (gate 1) with spod and boilie effective - fake corn is still a winner for the bigger fish!

See the email that we recently received from Stuart Nolten as below

Hi Adrian
My name is Stuart Oulton and I came down for 3 days fishing on Bradley's last
week, on the first night there 27/08/08, i caught a 36lb:6oz common which
as you can imagine I was totally made up with...
I was talking to Roley from the Tackle Den and Paul the bailiff and they gave me
your e-mail address and thought that you might want to use the picture to put
on your website etc..
They aren't the best of pictures but hope they are ok I did one in b/w as well…
Hope to get back down there very soon.......

Regards Stuart (pic below)

Bradley's Update 26 June 2008

Getting lots of great feedback from customers about the friendly attitude of our bailiffs Paul and Geoff - thanks guys!

Fish caught to 36lb last weekend - get on the fake corn!

Seb Francis joins the Watermark as assistant fishery manager this month. Seb has worked for the Watermark for two years and having graduated from college is now full time Monday's to Saturday's.

Bradley's Lake Record Broken! June 2008

Andrew Nichols has achieved his ambition of catching a Bradley's 40 in spectacular style with this huge framed Common Carp. A real milestone for Bradley's - well done Andrew! (pic below)

Bradley's update 2/5/08

A few pointers from information received from anglers in the last week...... Fish have been caught from all areas of the lake, many of which, have been stock fish with fish to over 14lbs caught. Reasonable amounts of bait are needed to hold the shoals. The water is very clear at the moment and certainly anglers fishing with good rigs and ensuring rig bits that match the lake bottom for colour are the ones that are catching the most fish. Fish are coming from the gravel however the Chod is producing very successfully in the silk weed areas. Bait wise - fish with what you have confidence in as there are a lot of fish prepared to feed in Bradley's right now... We now have toilets in both car parks.

Bradley's update 1/5/08

You may have heard that both semi finals for the BCAC are being held on Bradley's in July. I can confirm that this will happen on the following dates, 11th July 08 - 13th July 08 and the 25th July 08 - 27th July 08. Little Horseshoe will be reserved for any Bradley's season ticket holder that want to fish during the event. Season ticket holders will not be able to fish on Bradley's during the event!

Letter recieved from colin pritchard 8/4/2008

Hi Adrian

My name is Colin Pritchard and we met on Friday night last when you were kind enough to take a couple of photo’s for me. I spent 3 days on Bradley’s Lake and so I believe I was the first person to fish the new pegs by the Wood Pool and what good pegs they are. During my stay I caught 7 stockies upto low doubles and lost another 5, hooklink too short, but a great first session for me. Attached are the photo’s from that session which you are free to use if you wish..

Regards Colin

Bradley's update 7/4/08

A busy weekend at Bradley's with anglers braving the ice and snow. Plenty of fish caught with up to eight fish caught in a session by individual anglers! All fish caught were the smaller 2006 fish to low/mid doubles. The fish were not complete walkovers with some anglers receiving lots of liners and dropped fish. A change to slightly bigger hooks and snowman presentation managed to turn some of these liners into fish...... The fish were quite localised in the Wood Pool area..... Single hook baits have worked as well as PVA bags and big beds of baits; clearly some hungry fish around!!!

Bradley's update 3/4/08

Well what can I say.... The new bank via Station Road has opened for business. This is very early for Bradleys (cold) but I am delighted to say that the 2006 stock fish are feeding hard and are being caught in numbers. Fish to 14lb 2oz have been landed with most fish being caught at 50yds or so. Pacific Anchovy is the top bait so get your ticket booked.... You can now call the Tackle Den Direct on 01285 862716 to reserve your space...

Letter recieved from Debbie Jones 1/4/2008

Central Cotswolds Young Peoples Project

Debbie Jones, Youth Support Worker

Dear Adrian,

This letter is a big ‘Thank You’ for the wonderful time that we spent at Little Horseshoe last weekend.

The tranquil surroundings and the facilities and standards could not be beaten.

Lee Pollard and James Anderson are first class Angling Coaches and the relationships and communication between them and the young people was exceptional.

The young people involved learnt so much from this, rigs, fish care and envoirmental skills to spodding and casting techniques.

This event was highly successful and is something that we hope to repeat in the near future.

Once again on behalf of myself and Gloucestershire Youth Service thank you for your kindness and support.

Yours faithfully

Debbie Jones

Easter Bank Holiday Update  25/3/08

The cold weather did not stop visitors enjoying the fishing at Watermark during the Bank Holiday Break. Although no records were broken fish were caught to high doubles at Little H with stockies being caught on Bradley's. We have 4 Sparsholt  college students with us for the next two weeks. They are busy building new swims at the new Wood Pool which opens on April 14th. This well stocked fishery will be the ideal location for pleasure fishing with a float on a day ticket and will be able to accommodate up to twelve anglers. Wood Pool is the ideal venue to book for small matches. Call 01285 862680 for more details....

Carpology & Nige Sharp Visit Little Horseshoe  12/3/08

Team Carpology, Nige Sharp and friends visited Little H for a social this week. First night 9 runs for 6 fish with the best a cracking 28lb big plated mirror – will be on the gallery as soon as we get the photo’s. The capture was also recorded on video which we hope to upload also. The Pacific Anchovy continue to work its magic this Spring! Most of the fish came off the silt patches centrally from the lake however some fish were skilfully tweaked out of the margins. P.S. we were experiencing gales > 80 mile an hour.

Bradley's update 10/3/08

As you may be aware Bradley's Lake is undergoing some cosmetic surgery at the moment. Our contractor MJ Church is profiling the banks, specifically the area between Lake 17 (Hills) and Bradley’s. This has made access impossible however this area is due to be back open by the beginning of May. The good news is that the Wood Pool side of the Lake is open via the access off Station Road. Fish are already being caught which is very early for Bradley’s and this may be an indicator of the impact the recent stockings have had on the lake! Directions and gate codes will be provided by the Tackle Den when you buy your tickets.

Little Horseshoe stocked with 48 home grown fish 10/3/08

48 lucky fish made the grade and are swimming in Little Horseshoe this month. These home grown fish grown in the same water supply as Little H are 3 times the size of their comrades in the stock ponds. They ranged from 10lbs - to just under 20lbs and are immaculate beautifully proportioned commons and one mirror! The fish were stocked two weeks ago and are already hitting  the banks with six of these fish caught since the stocking – maggots are the winning formula!

Roly on a Roll! 5/3/08

Roly the "Head Man" at the Tackle Den has been caning the carp at Little Horseshoe recently (3/3/08) using DT Baits "Pacific Anchovy" flavoured maggots and boilies on the Chod. Roly has steadily caught fish even breaking his PB with an awesome 31lb 4 oz mirror - take a look at the fish on the gallery.
If you want advice from the expert speak to Roly at the Tackle Den on 01285 862716 or have a natter when you are buying your ticket for the venue - give his coffee a miss by the way!

Another letter fromCraig Whitehead, Monday September 17th 2007

"Dear Watermark,

Once again I feel that I must e-mail you to commend you on your stock fish. I've just done another 48hr session on Bradleys and landed 19 of them now up to a massive 13lb+, these fish must never stop feeding!!!

As much as I love catching the stock carp as they all look different and fight like little tigers the icing on the cake came on my second night at 3am when one of your bigger carp came across one of my boilies, an awesome looking mirror at 30lb 10oz.

When I woke the next morning I thought the session could not get any better but Bradleys had not finished with me yet!!! later that day my left hand rod shot off and I managed to land a personal best tench at 10lb 2oz.

Many thanks,

Craig"

A letter fromCraig Whitehead, Monday September 3rd 2007

"Dear Watermark,

Someone on Bradleys the other day said you where after some photos of your stock fish so I thought I'd send you some (mirror 12lb 3oz, fully scaled mirror 8lb 7oz, common 9lb 8oz and the tench came in at 9lb 2oz).

I've got to say these are the best stock fish I've ever seen and are going to make some great lumps one day!!

Regards,

Craig"
