Welcometo the Watermark Fisheries.
2012
Watermark Trout Fisheries, adjacent to the beautiful River Churn
is situated in the fabulous Cotswold Countryside on the outskirts
of South Cerney near Cirencester. This venue is perfect for anglers
travelling from London, Birmingham, Bristol and Oxford, with easy
access for the M4 and M5. Our Fisheries are maintained to an extremely
high standard and our speciality is producing high quality brown
trout.
The lake is well stocked and fishing well however the fish are
deeper and a sink tip or sinking line is best. THE FISHERY IS FULLY
BOOKED ON THE 19TH FEB AND THEREFORE IS CLOSED FOR DAY TICKETS
24 Dec
The fishery is well stocked and open with a good head of fish.
A recent feature by Total Fly Fisher saw plenty of fish banked to
a variety of tatics with small weighted lures on a floating line
very effective.
29 Nov
Trout are active all over the lake chasing the vast shoals of small
perch - a great time to fish a lure. Anglers have been catching
limit bags as a result of this. White & orange lures fished
with short pulls very effective!
21 Nov
Lures working well - the fishery is well stocked with Bibury fish
and the heater is on in the anglers rest.........
11 Nov
More like spring than winter with fish all around the margins.
The water is gin clear with stalking fish a good option. Try a weighted
ptn and a buzzer on the dropper!
04 Nov
The fishery is very well stocked we are sticking with slightly
smaller fish until the rains freshen things up. We have found the
smaller fish fight harder and take more readily through the summer/autumn
months. Orange blobs are the going method!
22 Oct
As below plenty of fish eager to take flies looking forward to some
rain!
14 Oct
Fishing very nicly again small lures working best on a floating
line. Some good limit bags being recorded.
25 Sept
Lots of fish being caught this weekend floating and sinktip lines
with a weighted white lure - deadly! Plenty of fish stocked.
22 Sept
The lake is alive with fish and fishing really well.Small lures
on a sink tip will deliver the goods. Plenty of daddies around and
these are worth a try with some quality browns showing in the margins
at the moment.
16 Sept
As below with plenty of fish still being caught... The fishery
is closed for a corporate day on Friday 23rd of Sept and lake will
be full of fish the next day!!!!!!!!
09 Sept
Again the water nice and clear with fish starting to feed in midlayers
which is a good sign. White lures, montanas and daddies best flies.
29 August
Water still very clear. Plenty of fish moving. Some very nice rises
in the evening to emergers and cdc emergers have proved effective.
On breezy days try a daddy twitched. The last few nights have been
cold so the fishing will start to come on now with prospects for
September looking good with plenty of fish to be stocked.
18th August
The boat has been very productive with some limit bags and fish
lost. Notably Mr Jones from Pewsey had two fish in one cast one
on the point and one on the dropper to buzzers. Yesterday a 12lb
brown trout was landed. The rain today should freshen everything
up and maintain the good standard of fishing through August.
12th Aug
The Bibury fish are very active since stocking with some nice silvery
fish being caught in the boat. Early and late is best with PTN's,buzzers
and damsel flies working well. Lots of fry about so any weighted
white lures should be productive.
5th Aug
The Bibury Trout have performed very well in the warmer weather
so we are stocking again on Monday. For best results fish well down
with a sink tip line counting to 15 and a slow retrieve, try a damsel
fly. Fish being caught are silver and hard fighting.
22nd July
Fish moving on the top and the water lovely and clear. Bibury trout
farm are making a delivery on monday keeping the lake nicely topped
up. We have asked for fish of about 1.5lbs as they hold up better
in the warmer weather so tight lines............p.s. still plenty
of big fish in the lake to go after.....
15th July
Water still lovely and clear. Tactics as below still best. Mr Williams
from Hereford had a fantastic 14lb brown and a 7lb rainbow using
this tactic yesterday both in A1 condition and extremely hard fighting.
5th July
Plenty of fish still being caught but you need to be on a sink
tip or sinking line. Big browns are smashing into the perch fry
as I write with the water still very clear. If you can fish a fast
sinker 8 foot leader minimum of 10lbs breaking strain and a large
booby nymph be prepared for the fish of a lifetime. You need to
make a long cast so shooting heads are a good idea and figure of
8 once the line is tight on the bottom. Keep retrieving until the
fish starts to pull you in! This is a deadly method for the big
fish that have overwintered......
28th June
A group of anglers this last weekend caught 6 brace of trout all
imaculatly conditioned rainbows with many in the 3 - 4 lb range.
Sink tip and intermediate lines best with buzzers and damsels working
well. Plenty of surface action on cooler breezy days.
12th June
The lake is fishing very nicely. Plenty of fish showing and being
caught. Sink tips and sinking lines are well down are deadly with
beaded damsels. There are some cracking fish in the lake to be caught
with plenty of limits being recorded.
29th May
The lake is fishing very well with the water gin clear. The trout
are feeding hard on buzzers with plenty of fish showing so floating
lines with long leaders with green or black buzzers will work well.
It really is perfect conditions at this pretty lake so dont leave
it to late to pay us a visit. Remember you can get 10% discount
on a block of ten tickets! or recieve 11 tickets for the price of
10 (based on half day tickets)
25th May
Plenty of fish moving. The cold nights are really helping to keep
the fish up in the water and the fish are in pristine condition.
19th May 2011
The fish are moving up in the water with fish following the wind.
A few mayflies about and a good evening rise going on. Beaded Damsel
fly nymphs working well in the deeper water. Remember there is free
tea and coffee in the anglers rest and there are many good sized
fish about at the moment so remember your 6lb line.
14th May 2011
The fishery is well stocked with fish feeding deep on damsel nymphs.
For best results use a sinking line and a long shank beaded nymph
or Montana. Find the deep water and let the fly get well down. A
regular angler today caught two fish over 3lbs each losing 4!
