Fishing Report - Spring '08

The fishery is providing outstanding sport at the moment and provides the best fishing of the year at this time. Floating lines and damsels’, PTN ‘s and buzzers will produce the goods. Our stock fish are in A1 condition so please be brave and sample trout fishing as it should be - you can always warm up in the anglers reset where you can have free tea, coffee and biscuits! Fishing Report - Winter '07

Now that we've had the first few frosts, the fish have livened up and are responding well to lure fishing tactics. If the fish are deep, it is essential to use intermediate or sinking lines. Stocking densities are high in the lake, and if you're not catching, you're not fishing at the right level. A great tactic is to make the longest cast you can, with a fairly large lure or nymph, and count down to the appropriate depth, normally ten to twenty seconds, then make one large pull of the line, followed by a fairly fast retrieve and an occasional fast pull fishing right to the edge of the boat or bank. If these tactics aren't for you, then make sure you've got good quality polaroids and a hat to spot fish at short range, and fish stalking tactics with weighted nymphs and small lures.

Fishing Report - Summer/Autumn '07

Thankfully the wet summer has meant consistent top of the water fishing this year. Dry fly sport has been exceptional. With so many over wintered fish in the lake the trout are feeding well on naturals.

- For nymph fishing you can’t beat a damsel fly on the longest leader that you cast with olive buzzers deadly fished across a ripple.

- Sedges and daddies are working very well especially when skated across the surface.

- The water is gin clear so try stalking with weighted nymphs – lots of big fish in the water at the moment.

- With autumn on the way the fish will start fry feeding so remember this if you want to nail one of those huge back-season brown trout.
